End of the Roller Coaster

I can probably spare you the apologies and explanations for why I haven’t been around lately. Most of you know that I’m taking the bar exam (the notorious 2-day test spanning over a dozen areas of law that determines whether or not I become a licensed attorney) a week from Wednesday. Unlike wedding planning or writing a thesis, there is no glimmer of joy or excitement in this stress. Just pure pressure. And a ton of sometimes discouragement. Taking a test that you have a big chance of failing is a very odd experience. (Did you know that Michelle Obama failed the bar exam on her first try???) I’ve blocked myself from Facebook, I haven’t had a home cooked meal since I last posted one (aka a long time), haven’t worn a drop of makeup or real clothes in weeks, and can’t remember the last time I felt truly calm. Jason and I had our third wedding anniversary last week, which ended up being takeout from the local burger joint in between studying. I’m only 25, but I can feel some hairs turning grey as a result of this process.

But we’re reaching the end of the roller coaster, which is often the scariest part. While I’m ready to get OFF this ride, I wish that I actually had more time to prepare for those last few dips and drops. Here are some snapshots of our crazy life lately.

I just now realized that it’s a Saturday. Days of the week make no difference in this nightmare. But for the rest of you it’s what I think you call a “weekend” (is that right? what is that? sounds nice…), so enjoy it!

Good luck! I will be praying that both you and your husband pass your exams. It’s hard now but imagine how much better it will be with two lawyers’ salaries in the household and the rest of your life with no more exams. All the best and remember to breathe (it sounds stupid but meditation really does help).Only a little while left and then you can breathe and have a bit of fun.
