Gradmoon

Jason and I are taking a few days away to relax and smell the Virginia roses before our big move and the Bar exam. We just really need some time to unwind! And it’s very likely that we won’t have time for another vacation for the rest of the year. We’re spending a few days out here in the Virginia mountains and I’m calling it our “gradmoon”. šŸ™‚

The first stop today was Blue Mountain Brewery, which is outside Charlottesville. The view was certainly not too shabby.

We enjoyed ourselves out onĀ theirĀ patio, starting with a sampler flight ofĀ theirĀ 10 beers on draft.

This place makes some GREAT beer! My favorite was a really unique sour cherry variety, but they were all delicious. After sipping on a little beer we ordered lunch. Cheeseburger and fries for Jason and Tofu Reuben with side salad for me!

The food was great, too! Loved the place all around.

After our tasting and lunch, we took the scenic route onward through Skyline Drive. It’s a road that goes through Shenandoah Park, with lots of overlooks for great photo ops.

Jason’s taking pictures along with me on this trip! He’s using my Sony (the camera I’ve been using up until recently) and I’m trying to get used to my Nikon that he got me. So far so good!

After a beautiful drive through the park, we headed towards one of Virginia’s most interesting natural attractions.

Lurray Caverns! It’s an underground formation, mostly limestoneĀ stalagmitesĀ andĀ stalactites, that’s open to the public for tours. It is absolutely incredibleĀ in person and I just spend the entire time in awe, furiously snapping pictures and saying “WOW”Ā over and over again.

There was even a naturally formed wishing well that Jason and I threw a couple pennies into!

All around an awesome place that I would highly recommend to Virginia tourists and residents alike! For kids of all ages. šŸ˜‰

Then it was further north, where we finally checked into our B&B and had a lovely dinner out at a small town restaurant nearby.

BLT for him, grilled portabella sandwich for her. We’re so predictable.

I better get to bed, we’ve got a lot planned for tomorrow! Thanks for reading!

Wow, I love these posts where you take us along on your trip. Great pics and the food looks delicious – although I’d be partial to the “hers” side of meals, heehee… šŸ˜‰
