Happy 4th! I guess it’s technically the 5th as I’m writing this post…but I’m still sending you the wishes. We had a wonderful holiday over here and I hope that you did too!
The new WIAW theme for the month is fitness, which is awesome! Speaking of fitness: go to my post from yesterday to win FREE DAYS of a great online workout program! I know that more than one of you is interested so please leave a comment and take advantage of it! 🙂 Today for me being fit meant a lot of walking to and from holiday festivities. Let me share the day with you!
Breakfast: toasted bagel with almond butter, coffee
Totally forgot to take a picture! Didn’t realize until noon that it was Wednesday. 😛
Morning Snack: Red, White, and Blue Muffins!
I made these in the holiday spirit and they came out SO WELL. There’s blueberries, raspberries, and white chocolate inside. Recipe tomorrow!
Lunch: spaghetti with marinara, roasted chicken, spinach
I just made this little creation up in the microwave. Some plain pasta topped with shredded chicken, Newman’s Own tomato sauce, and some raw spinach that I stuck in at the end just to wilt a little. I needed a meal on the fly!
The reason I was rushing lunch was because we needed to head out so that we could make it in time for the parade!
It was great! Lots of festive people and cute little kids.
We even saw Congressman John Lewis there! Every time I see him I feel starstruck. What an amazing human being. He was saying hi to everyone and shaking little kids’ hands like the champ that he is, even in his 70’s!
After the parade we headed back home to finish up the delicious spread my mom made. BBQ is the best 4th of July tradition ever!
Dinner: BBQ ribs, grilled corn, baked beans, potato salad
The food was awesome. Mom’s a genius in the kitchen!
Ashley took this lovely photo of my beer, and afterwards said “You’re putting it on the blog, right??”.
After dinner we headed out to Lenox, the largest fireworks show in the Southeast! We usually just watch it on tv to avoid the crowds but this year we went for the real deal. SO worth it.
It was the best show I’ve ever seen at Lenox! It had an AWESOME grand finale!
Dessert: mango key lime pie
My mom whipped this up earlier in the day. Divine.
Definitely an indulgent day of eats, but that’s what holidays are for! I’m gonna need a spinach juice in the morning. 🙂
Thanks for reading!

Haha oh what a great place to visit for the 4th! We’re actually in Atlanta all summer but will be heading back to Virginia in August. I LOVE living in Williamsburg, it’s such a beautiful place. The law school is a couple blocks from the colonial area so yes we spend a ton of time there! I can’t wait to get back. 🙂
