A Day To Slow Down

We got very lucky and got an unexpected long weekend due to our Friday class being cancelled! It was exactly what I needed because this week was full of crazy. This morning I was thrilled to be able to sleep in, and when I woke up I got started on baking some goodies for a birthday package to Jason’s grandpa.

As I was thinking of things that would ship well, I decided I would try my hand at biscotti. They were not hard to make at all, and turned out great! I made a big batch of almond biscotti with chocolate chips.

With all that baking, I didn’t do much cooking today! I’ve cooked every night this week, so tonight is leftover night. Since I don’t have many exciting things to share with you, it seems like a good time to do this twenty questions survey that I’ve been seeing all over the place!

1) What is one of your favorite ways to spend a Saturday?

Sleeping in very late. Then eating a huge breakfast that my hubs made for me, and vegging out on the sofa with him for the whole day. I know, I lead a very active life.

2) List your top three favorite TV shows.

This is an impossible question because I watch SO MANY tv shows. Honestly. But if I had to choose I would say Grey’s Anatomy, Glee, and Modern Family. There are a million more but I’ll leave it at that.

3) Would you rather be in pictures or take them?

TAKE THEM! I definitely got this “photographer’s syndrome” from my dad, who’s a professional photographer. At the end of any given day I will have taken hundreds of pictures, and I am never in them. That’s why I always rotate between the only five pictures of myself that I do have!

4) Why do you blog?

Because I love it. Because I love to take pictures and share them with the world. Because I love to write and always wanted to be a writer, but instead am being a lawyer because I never want to have to worry about money (yeah, I said it!). Because it gives me a chance to escape from things I don’t love, and focus on what I do love. Because I LOVE food. 🙂

5) Share five websites that you visit regularly

Gmail

Facebook

Twitter

Epicurious

Google Reader

6) If you could have lunch with one person from your Twitter list who would it be?

I’ve got to echo Lee on this one, it would definitely be President Obama.

7) List a few of your favorite snacks.

Nuts. Cereal. Yogurt. And more cereal.

8 ) Do you have a pet? If so, what kind?

Ugh. No, I don’t. When we were coming here everyone told me that I wouldn’t want to get a pet because law school is so crazy and I would never be home. UMMMM that was not the right answer for us. We are ALWAYS home (I have a spiteful relationship with the library) and I would have loved a doggie companion to have during these trying years…oh well. Now it’s too late anyways because our landlord doesn’t want pets. Do I sound cranky about this? Because I am. As soon as we move, we are getting one. 🙂

9) Which three material possessions would you struggle to live without?

My laptop, my glasses, and our car! An absence of any one of those things might actually kill me.

10) What’s your favorite drink?

I think you guys already know.

And if I’m in a restaurant south of the Mason-Dixon, it’s sweet tea ALL the way.

11) Do you enjoy cooking?

HAHAHAHAHA. So funny. This doesn’t need answering. The day I stop cooking is the day someone needs to either shoot me in the face or check me into a mental facility.

12) Do you have children?

😛 The answer is no. I am doing my very best to wait until we are ready…financially, emotionally, physically, and otherwise. This is a daily struggle, but I’m pretty sure our children don’t want to come into the world with two unemployed parents and pile of debt the size of Mount Kilimanjaro. I can’t blame them. They’re smart already. 😉

13) What are your favorite hobbies?

Hmmm…I’m actually not too big on hobbies. This IS my hobby.

14) Would you consider yourself to be shy or outgoing?

I try to be outgoing…but there’s a law school full of people who can testify to the fact that I am crazy shy. Or maybe they can’t because I’m so shy that most of them don’t know who I am. LOL. Yeah, I’m not joking.

15) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change?

I get very invested in things. It can be a good thing, but a lot of the time it just ends up in me realizing that no one cares about whatever it is as much as me, and then I just feel very bad. So I wish I could pick and choose what I emotionally invested myself in.

16) Who is your favorite actor/actress?

I don’t know! I don’t think I have favorites. I love a lot of them!

17) What’s the coolest thing you’ve done this week?

I started a French course! As a child I was fluent and my grandmother used to speak French with me, which is one of my favorite memories of her. I want to be able to speak it with our children some day, and I realized that if I don’t start refreshing my French that will never happen. So I bought one of those audio language courses you listen to in your car! Je suis trés contente!

18) Do you live near your family or far from them?

Pretty far. We’re a 7 hour drive from one side and a 10 hour drive from the other. Good thing none of us minds driving, and we visit each other pretty often.

19) List three of your talents.

  • caring for people
  • cooking
  • eating large amounts of ice cream

20) What is your greatest attribute?

I like to think that I’m a giving person. Nothing makes me happier than giving help to someone or making someone happy, even if it’s just for a moment.

I bet you learned a few things about me! I guess I tend not to get into super personal things on the blog, but it’s nice to share sometimes. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Your dad’s a professional photographer? That’s really cool and explains why your pictures are so good. It’s in your genes!

I’ve always wanted to make biscotti but I get intimidated by it every time. Yours look lovely.
Jealous that you have a silpat. I need one!
