Hummus: An American Favorite

I think it’s awesome this food has become another American tradition, but it’s also pretty funny given that most of us never eat ingredients like chick peas and tahini in anything else. I love hummus mostly because it’s so incredibly easy to make but it tastes so unique and complex. With a work:taste ratio like that, it’s something that everyone should try. Here’s my version:

  • 1 can (15.5 oz) cooked chick peas (also called garbonzo beans)
  • 1/4 cup tahini paste
  • 1 meyer lemon (or 2 regular lemons)
  • pinch of cumin
  • 1/2 t. paprika
  • 1 t. salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 T. italian parsley
  • olive oil to texture and taste

Blend in a food processor/blender until smooth. Drizzle with olive oil and scarf down with crackers, pita, veggies, etc.
