Cookbook Haul!

I don’t think this is customary in the blogosphere, but I’m also a youtube fanatic and on youtube people love to do “haul” videos. If you’ve never seen one, it’s basically where the person will show all of the items that they bought on a recent shopping trip (clothes, shoes, makeup, books, that sort of thing). While mostly useless, I find them addictingly fun to watch. So today for you guys I’m going to do a mini-haul of some cookbooks I got. I’m not cookbook crazy or anything (I actually get most of my recipes online), but since I’m a newlywed and in my first place I’m basically starting from zero. I got some wonderful cookbooks as wedding gifts, and I figured it was about time to get some more! Here’s what I got:

Barefoot Contessa at Home: Everyday Recipes You’ll Make Over and Over Again by Ina Garten:

I LOVE Ina. I could watch her all day. Something about her attitude and the way she seems so comfortable and happy in her kitchen just makes me happy. Are her recipes healthy? Not so much. But honestly I do not care, I can make my own ingredient adjustments to fit her recipes. And there’s nothing wrong with a little treat sometimes! Recipe that made me want to buy this book: Easy Lobster Paella

Madhur Jeffrey’s Quick and Easy Indian Cooking by Madhur Jeffrey:

I. Adore. Indian. Food. I actually have Indian descent on my father’s side of the family, and I’m always trying to encourage myself with when I experiment with Indian food by saying “C’mon you can do this! You’re Indian!” (That’s as ridiculous as is sounds, isn’t it?). But the truth is, I have no idea what I’m doing and need some serious assistance. I’ve gotten better over the past months, and I’m hoping this book will help even more. Recipe that made me want to buy this book: Scallops in Spinach-Tomato Curry Sauce

The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook: Whole Foods Recipes for Personal and Planetary Health by Alissa Segersten and Tom Malterre

I bought this because one of the authors is a nutritionist and I really wanted a book to give me some nutrition information in addition to good recipes to go along with that info! Also it has great reviews on Amazon (which is pretty much how I choose everything I buy…). Recipe that made me want to buy this book: Oatmeal Blueberry Banana Pancakes

That’s it for now! I also recently got Super Natural Cooking by Heidi Swanson, which I love. But it’s not technically a part of the same shopping trip.

I’m off to go pick one of these new recipes for dinner tonight. If any of you have any of these cookbooks I would love your comments about what to try(/avoid). Thanks for reading!
