First Day of Freedom

The law journal competition is finally over, and that marks the REAL end of our first year of law school. The last couple days were a blur and I ended up passing out asleep sometime yesterday after turning our entries in, but I’ve gotten some sleep and re-fueled and now I feel great. I’m so happy that Jason and I were able to accomplish all that we wanted to this year, and whether or not we get on a journal, I consider it to be a success. This morning felt like a fresh new start, it’s the first day where we have NO obligations except to relax and enjoy life. We went to eat breakfast at The Trellis, a restaurant in downtown Williamsburg.

Jason got this breakfast platter, complete with eggs, biscuit, ham, sausage, bacon, grits, broiled tomato, and home fries.

And I got the Trellis omelet, which had sauteed spinach, mushrooms, broiled tomatoes, and fontina cheese inside. My omelet came with a side of home fries and mulitgrain toast. And of course we needed some coffee (I think we’ll be depending on coffee for the next few days until we make up this sleep deficit!). With lots of sugar. We practically emptied this little bucket.

After breakfast we walked straight outside and into the the local farmers market, which is also downtown. There were so many more vendors and people here for this market than I’ve seen before!

There were LOTS of beautiful plants and flowers (if only we were going to be in town longer, I would have bought some!).

And of course lots of gorgeous, local, fresh fruits and vegetables.

There was so much I wanted to buy but we’re leaving for Georgia in a few days so I stuck with what we really needed. We made out with some farm fresh eggs,

a nice big head of green leaf lettuce,

and some bok choy for dinner tonight!

I can’t wait to take you with me to all the beautiful markets in Georgia!

So this weekend I’m doing something I’m very excited about. Famous and incredibly talented professional food photographer Penny De Los Santos is doing an online food photography course and I’m registered! It actually started yesterday, but she’s getting into the real nitty gritty of shooting today. I’m so excited! I’ve really fallen in love with food photography and I hope it’s a hobby I can pursue for a long time. I’m excited to learn some things during this class, and I’m also SUPER excited to go home and learn some things from my dad (who is also a professional photographer) over the summer. You can register too if you’re interested, it’s free if you watch the course live and you can learn more here. It’s actually happening right now (their still doing intro stuff at the moment) so I best be off!

Thanks for reading!
