Sucessful Operation

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID AND JASON!!!

The birthday operation was a success!

BUT before I get into that I have one other thing I want to share with you guys. I’ve been seeing the “What I Ate Wednesday” (otherwise known as WIAW) going around the blogosphere and decided I have to try it! The blogger from Peas and Crayons came up with the idea and I think it’s a great one!

So basically on Wednesdays I will show you guys everything I ate that day, from beginning to end. Some bloggers do that all the time, but for most of us that doesn’t really work. But it’s a fun idea to do it once a week! I also just downloaded the app Instagram and am in love so here are my food photos of the day with some fun Instagram effects.

Breakfast was Dunkin’ Donuts (it’s Jason’s birthday, so I had to let him get his favorite munchkins!), and I had this iced coffee and a turkey flatbread breakfast sandwich.

We walked over to Centennial Park to eat the lunch we packed. It was HOT AS HECK but I love being downtown. Jason was mad that I made him eat his birthday lunch in the heat, but I think he got over it!

I had a grapefruit sparkling water for a nice cold drink:

A turkey wrap with lettuce, tomato, and dijon mustard in a whole wheat tortilla (the picture is refusing to load, sorry!)

Some fresh strawberries:

And some whole grain tortilla chips:

Then for dinner we had shrimp pasta, salad, and some garlic bread!

Which takes me back to the birthday festivities! So after work Jason and I headed straight for Whole Foods to get stuff for dinner! Last Instagram photo, I promise, haha!

This was our first Whole Foods visit in Georgia! So awesome. We don’t have one near us in Virginia so it’s so nice to have one around. I HAD to get some fresh peanut butter, so delicious!

After Ashley and I hung the birthday banner, we blew up some balloons!

And I got started on dinner. Jason requested Shrimp Pasta, which is a really easy recipe so I was glad to do it.

And I made some garlic bread to go with it. Super easy recipe I made up and it was quite tasty.

Simple Garlic Bread

  • 1 loaf fresh ciabatta loaf
  • 4 T. butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/2 c. shredded Parmesan cheese

-Melt butter and garlic together just until butter is melted. Slice ciabatta loaf in half lengthwise.

-Brush butter-garlic mix over each half loaf. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

-Bake in a 425 degree oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese just starts to brown on top.

(I really like this picture! Wish they all came out like that!)

Awesome meal.

I think the birthday boy enjoyed it, too.

Especially after we made him wear his birthday badge!

The birthday fun will continue this weekend when we all have time to partake in cake, ice cream, singing, gifts, etc., but we had fun today too!

Now if only I didn’t have to go to work in the morning…at least I have this to look at while I’m at my desk:

Such a handsome birthday boy.

Thanks for reading!
