Somebody Pinch Me
I have long forgotten about the miserable days I was having earlier this week. Today was the best day ever. I’m feeling pretty well (still some swelling, supposedly from the FML, but today was a good day in that regard), I got tons of sleep, I did nothing even remotely related to law school, and the good stuff just kept rolling in. I woke up at noon (YES, NOON! my FAVORITE time to wake up) to the sound of the doorbell ringing with the postman bringing me this:
A BRAND NEW WAFFLE MAKER! I broke the hinge on the hand-me-down one I had, so this purchase was in order. I had a little extra money from selling back some of my textbooks from last year, so I decided I would treat myself to a present. Okay, maybe two presents.
YES! I FINALLY got my grubby little hands on Mama Pea‘s cookbook. Sarah is so amazingly inspirational to me and I’m SO glad to be able to show some support by buying her book. I spent much of the morning reading through the witty and insanely charming stories and drooling over all the recipes I can’t wait to make. And as if that wasn’t enough to make my day…
Woah. There. Buddy. This is no ordinary bunch of produce. This right here is our very first ever CSA share! I mentioned a while ago that we were considering making the committment, and we decided to go for it. I could not be more thrilled.
All fresh, all local, all in season, and all beautiful. I love you, farmers. Let’s do a quick rundown of this awesome Virginia produce! The first thing I noticed was these beautiful apples. They’re galas, and there’s a couple Asian Hosui pears in there too! I’ve never tried them!
A few heads of broccoli:
A head of bibb lettuce:
An eggplant:
Cherry tomatoes:
Lots of fresh corn:
Long beans:
Garlic:
Concord grapes:
Sweet potatoes:
And a dozen eggs from happy hens on a pasture!
I don’t even know what to do with all this stuff, but I’m sure we’ll figure something out. ๐
Gotta run, I’m going to get my hair done! Told you it was a good day.
Thanks for reading!
