WARA Restaurant Weeks 2012- Part One
I hope you all had a fabulous and relaxing weekend and got to enjoy some of the nice weather we’ve been having (sounds like there’s been nice weather all over the US lately!). This was our last weekend of freedom before the beginning of the spring semester so we treasured it dearly. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather this weekend but am feeling a little better now and wasn’t about to let a sore throat ruin the beginning of Restaurant Weeks here in the ‘Burg! Restaurant Weeks 2012 is organized by the Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association and it gives us the opportunity to try all sorts of fine dining at a fraction of the normal cost! Tonight for dinner we hit up one of the participating restaurants, Second St. Bistro. We had heard good things about it and were excited to give it a try!
The inside of the restaurant has a very comfortable feel and strikes the perfect balance between upscale and casual. Once we were seated, our awesome waitress was quick to get our orders and was fabulous throughout our visit.
After getting our drinks she started us off with some bread and dipping oil.
The Restaurant Weeks special was a three course dinner for only $20.12! For the first course I ordered the French Onion Soup and Jason ordered the 2nd St. Onion Rings.
I couldn’t get a picture to do this soup justice but it was hands down my favorite part of the entire meal. The best french onion soup that I have ever had the joy of eating. They chose the perfect types of bread to go inside that didn’t get mushy at all but instead absorbed all of the incredible flavors of the soup broth. Amazing. Jason’s onion rings were really good too–see the 2 for 2nd Street?
For the entrée course, I ordered the 2nd St. Bistro Pasta, which was penne in a marsala parmesan cream sauce with beef tips, mushrooms, peppers, and scallions. Delicious!
Jason got the Chohany Signature Burger, named after the owners of the restaurant (one of whom just ran for state senator!). This thing was HUGE and Jason said it was quite tasty.
Honestly, after my entrée I was STUFFED but the meal came with a dessert course so of course I did my best to make room. I got the Seasonal Fruit Crisp (it was blackberry!) and Jason got the Brownie Sundae. Both were delicious and we only wish we had room to finish them!
It’s been nearly two hours since we ate and I am still completely stuffed. It was a great meal and we would go back to Second St. Bistro in a heartbeat!
We can’t wait to visit more of the participating restaurants in the next couple of weeks.

Note: In case you were wondering (and this applies to all my “restaurant reviews”) 2nd St. Bistro has no earthly idea who I am and did not pay me or anything else to write this. We bought our dinner and I’m just sharing my honest experience of it with you! It was real good. Just sayin’.
