A Leisurely Sunday

We had a great time hanging out with Jason’s parents today! They come down from New Jersey every year around this time to see us and it’s always nice to have some company in the house (we rarely have people over) and spend some quality time with them. Our day together began with a breakfast that I made for the four of us.

Sliced strawberries, pumpkin muffins (using the pumpkin from our local produce share!), grits, bacon, and scrambled eggs with aged cheddar.

Jason’s family forgoes lunch on Sundays for a big early dinner and so we decided to do that this weekend and make dinner reservations for the late afternoon. The big breakfast helped to tide us over. And after hanging out at home for a while we killed some time walking around the Williamsburg Pottery.

The Pottery is essentially one VERY BIG store/warehouse that is split up into a few huge buildings. They just rebuilt the entire thing and the facilities are really nice. They sell everything from wine to garden plants. It was our first time going and it was quite the experience!

Soon enough it was time for dinner! We went to Oceans & Ale, a bar and grill a couple minutes away from our house. We started with appetizers of chicken wings (which Jason and Dad shared) and crab balls (which Mom and I shared) and a round of drinks.

Cheers!

For my main dish I got seared sea bass with asparagus and mashed potatoes on the side.

The boys both ordered barbecue ribs, which looked delicious!

I did manage to steal a fry or two. Everything was tasty!

After dinner we all went back to the house and just relaxed for a while until it was time for Jason’s parents to head back to their hotel. It’s always sad to say goodbye but we had a really good visit! After they left we were starting to feel in the mood for dessert so we made a quick trip out for froyo.

Great way to end the weekend! I hope you all enjoyed yours, too. If only Monday didn’t have to come next.

Thanks for reading!

Gah, please tell me how you made those muffins with the big tops and were able to get them out of the pan!! When mine overflow over the sides like that they always get stuck and I end up breaking the top off the rest of the muffin!
