I hope you’re not too tired of hearing me talk about our restaurant adventures! The Restaurant Weeks are officially over in the ‘Burg now, but we made the most of it by going to one more place for dinner on the last day of it (which was this past Saturday). For our last restaurant we decided on Buon Amici, an Italian restaurant in New Town that gets a ton of good chatter. After passing by the restaurant several times and seeing the ‘Best in Williamsburg Winner’ sign hanging there, we’ve been meaning to try this place since we moved here!
We decided to sit out on the heated patio because it was so warm and comfy out there. Turns out after a few minutes the only other customers on the patio had left, so we had the whole thing to ourselves. So pleasant and romantic.
Complete with a wonderful, cozy fire!
The waiter first brought out some warm bread (focaccia and garlic knots) with infused oils for dipping. I was so hungry and it was so dang good that by the time I thought about taking a picture it was gone! 🙂 I ordered off the three course Restaurant Week menu and started with the house salad. The salad was wonderful, it had a great tangy dressing and was full of the most delicious fresh mozzarella.
Jason started with the cesar salad. I asked him just now to tell me what he thought about it and he said, “Delicious. That thing was so good.” I love quoting Jason, he’s always so descriptive, isn’t he? 😛 Gotta love him.
For my next course I had the Osso Buco with stewed carrots and tomatoes and parmesan risotto. I couldn’t get a good picture of my plate to save my life, but trust me when I say it was delicious. The meat just melted in my mouth and the risotto was full of flavorful cheese.
Jason ordered fried calamari (unpictured) and says, “Delicious! It was tender. It was tasty. It was fresh.” Haha I’m loving his reviews, I think I’m going to have to start including his quotes more often. For dessert I got the cannoli with fresh fruit. When I first saw it I thought the cannoli was pretty tiny, but once I started eating it I realized that it was so rich it didn’t need to be any bigger! Loved the little bit of fruit on the side, it really helps to cut the richness of the cannoli filling.
Great restaurant, great dinner. We left warm, full, and happy!
And now we are officially restauranted out. The Restaurant Weeks were great and we loved getting to try so many places that we’ve been meaning to get to. We now have four new spots in the ‘Burg that we love! So awesome.
On another note, I apologize in advance for my sporadic posting/commenting on your wonderful blogs in the coming week. I’m going into the busiest week of the semester (aside from finals of course) and am feeling a bit overwhelmed so I can’t make any promises for how much I will be around. Thanks for sticking with me and thanks for reading!
