Best Vegan Items at Trader Joe’s

Helpful list of the the top vegan items at Trader Joe's! | adashofsoul.com

Here it is guys! A couple months ago I did a roundup of my favorite frozen meals at TJ’s, and I got a couple requests to do a vegan roundup so voila! Being a self-proclaimed Trader Joe’s missionary, I love telling people more about why it’s such an amazing and unique store.

Before I get into my top 10 vegan products, let me note that there are dozens of vegan products available at any given Trader Joe’s store. In this post I’m just focusing on products that might not be vegan at comparable stores or products that I think superior to other brands. Check out a more extensive list of products from the store or ask any crew member for a list when you visit! If you’re just browsing around, look for a little ‘V’ symbol on the product which means it’s free of animal products.

Here we go, in order of my most favorite!

Soyaki

tj-best-vegan-0086

I’ve raved about this product already because we’re obsessed with it. We’re never without a bottle in the house. If you’re short on time, this is an amazing sauce for stir-fry or marinade for pretty much anything. It’s comparable to the popular Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce, but is a fraction of the cost.

Strawberry Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert

tj-best-vegan-0095

Holy WOW is this stuff delicious. I’ve tried quite a few non-dairy ice creams from other brands and in my opinion none come close to this product in taste and texture. This is the strawberry flavor, but there’s also a delicious chocolate version. Can’t be beat.

Reduced Guilt Pita Chips with Sea Salt

tj-best-vegan-0596

I can inhale a bag of these all my myself. I can’t quite describe it but they have this super buttery quality to them which is just irresistible. My favorite pita chip in the world.

Fully Cooked Falafel

tj-best-vegan-0089

I was skeptical to try these because they’re frozen and just get microwaved, but you won’t even believe how authentic and yummy they taste. I love to heat these up along with my homemade pita bread for an incredible vegan meal.

Japanese Fried Rice

I included this in my frozen food roundup, but couldn’t help including it again. The flavor is so unique and the rice comes out perfectly cooked when you microwave it. Love having a huge heap of this along with some marinated tofu.

Speculoos Cookies

tj-best-vegan-0499

I was going to take a picture of the actual cookies inside to show you how thick they are, but Jason and I ate the whole box before I could get to it! All I will say about these is that they are addictive and better than the popular grocery store/airline version.

True Thai Vegetable Pad Thai

tj-best-vegan-0496

This is another frozen item, and it’s great to heat up for a quick lunch. I’ll say that it doesn’t taste like pad thai you would order out, but it’s delicious in it’s own right. I love how there’s a good amount of sprouts and green onions inside.

Non-Dairy Almond Beverage

tj-best-vegan-0082

This is a really good and affordable almond milk option. I love cooking my oatmeal with this in the morning. Thick, creamy, and delicious.

Organic 3-Grain Tempeh

tj-best-vegan-0495

I’m not crazy about tempeh, but it’s slowly growing on me since I’ve become a vegetarian. This is the only version I’ve tried that I actually enjoy the taste of, and it’s more than a dollar cheaper than tempeh I’ve bought at other stores. Awesome!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! If you have any requests for other TJ’s posts you want me to do, please let me know! Have a great weekend!

P.S.- I’m just a regular Trader Joe’s fan like all of you! While I am a former employee, I am not affiliated with the company in any way nor do they have any idea who I am or that I’m writing this. I do not represent them in any way, but I DO represent my taste buds. K thanks. The lawyer in me had to include this. :)

Aaaand, I still haven’t been to TJ’s. One day, one day! I totally thought Speculoos was just some weird ingredient but turns out that’s the name of the kind of cookie! Thanks for that lesson 🙂 I love that it’s called “almond beverage” because let’s be honest, calling it “milk” is a little misleading. I’ve had a hard time finding tempeh lately and keep worrying that I missed some sort of “tempeh give you such and such disease” news…

I’m late to this, but I just found this article, which I thank you for.

Most if not all of the prepared hummus’s are vegan as well, you should confirm with the ones that contain pesto. The falafel sandwich in the prepared section is addictively delicious and vegan. There are soy ice cream sandwiches.

There are so many things I want recommend, but I just went vegan last month after almost 19 years as a vegetarian, so I definitely need to double-check before I spout off.

Have never been to TJs one just moved to the city where I live. I’m excited about going there. Seems like a whole foods kind of store without the whole paycheck needed to enjoy shopping there. ThAnk you for this list. Now I’ll know what to look for when I do go. I’m sure I’d be overwhelmed without! Peace!

LOL Well played, Lauren. Well played!

I’ve never forgiven Trader Joe’s for stopping carrying the most wonderful Caponata. If I’d known they were going to stop, I’d have bought a truck load. I’d give anything to find that same thing somewhere else.

Have you tried the speculoos cookie butter? It’s so good you ca eat the entire thing out of the jar. I recently became gluten free for health reasons so I can’t eat them much but I keep a jar in my cupboard and every few months I have a spoonful. Haha

Thanks for this! Ive been thinking about the nondairy ice creams – now I know which one to get! My absolute favorite vegan product at TJs is the veggie burrito. 2 burritos for 3-ish bucks, and they are so good. I also love their valencia peanut butter. Lots of fiber and protein, no trans fat, not a lot of carbs, easy to stir when it separates, doesnt get too hard when u put it in the fridge.

I am preparing to take the plunge into Veganism, and I just moved closer to a TJ’S, so I appreciate the recommendations. I’m pretty intimidated about making such a big change, so I am doing research on available options that will make the transition easier. Thanks for this!

Hi Lauren! Just found you via Pinterest. You had me at dog mommy, lol!!! Thank you for this list!! I often have trouble navigating my way thru Trader Joe’s. The feng shui in that place makes me anxious, lol. But they do have good stuff, and knowing what I’m looking for helps!
