Play Hard, Work Hard

We’ve had quite the full week! I had been planning to blog more during this week but sadly our internet is on the fritz. I’m going to hurry and finish this post before it cuts out again!

So this was Jason’s first week at work, which is very exciting! He has a post-graduate fellowship to buy him some time job searching, and it seems like the position is going to give him some great experience. Since we only have one car, I have to drop him off and pick him up from work. And for the rest of the day I try to be as productive as I can! This morning started off with a couple eggs scrambled with tempeh bacon, spinach, and cheese for breakfast.

DipticI took him to the Piedmont Dog Park because I’ve heard so many good things about it. It is AMAZING! We were both in heaven with the massive amount of space, secure fences, nice landscaping, and a completely separate park for small dogs so that my little dude doesn’t get trampled! I’m so glad I decided to brave the traffic and awful parking to go here with him. He totally wore himself out running around like a maniac! He’s slightly anti-social so sometimes he still prefers to play with me than with other dogs, but he’s getting better. And I absolutely love playing with him so I’m not exactly shoving him away. Between playing with him and taking a couple mile walk around the park, we both got a lot of exercise in. After a few minutes of his typical head-out-the-window action, he completely passed out on the car ride home.

The playing was hard on me, too! I got myself a coffee on the way home because I was in desperate need of some energy. I usually get hot lattes, even during the summer, but today was way too hot to not get an iced one!

The coffee helped fuel me through a really productive day. I made some appointments, did some job searching, and finished a lot of cleaning around the house. Morning snack was some nuts with a side of HGTV (why must they play 10 episodes of Income Property in a row??).

Since I’m not working yet, I’ve been helping out my parents by picking up Ashley from school a couple days a week. After I picked her up today I made us both smoothies for an afternoon snack. Mangoes, strawberries, pineapple, orange juice, honey, and greek yogurt inside!

I took Cynewulf and Ashley with me to pick up Jason, then we came home and had some down time until we got hungry. Dinner tonight was chicken teriyaki with cabbage and green beans sauteed in garlic and sesame oil. I’ve been LOVING the Quorn naked “chicken” cutlets for use in recipes. It really does taste just like chicken.

I’ve got some gelato bars in the freezer calling my name…

This reminded me of when I used to pick my sister up from school. So precious 🙂

Sounds like such a great day! Your lil’guy is so cute. Still debating on whether or not to get a dog as my work schedule doesn’t really allow me to have much flexibility right now.
