Catching Up on Life

This may sound weird, but with the craziness that’s been going on for the past year it feels like we’ve lost touch with whatever “normal” life is! I’m also not sure we ever had a “normal” life. I went from going to law school in the day and working at a grocery store at night to suddenly packing up our lives and moving hundreds of miles to away to suddenly studying every day for 3 months to…nothing! Essentially I’m now “job seeking” full time. In other words, my life is strange. And with all this “free” time we’ve been kind of at a loss! So we’re catching up on normal people activities and things that we missed. Like our anniversary! Which was over a month ago and was spent studying and eating takeout burgers. iPhone photos ahead!

blogcollage3.jpgSo last night for our belated 3rd anniversary dinner (courtesy of a graduation gift, thanks again KJ!) we went to Kyma, a Buckhead Life restaurant that I’ve wanted to try for a long time. Mostly because they have a separate vegetarian menu! It felt nice to get dressed and go somewhere nice…it’s been a LONG time. I had a bean soup, spanikopita, and tomato and cucumber salad. Sounds really simple but each dish was incredible! Jason enjoyed fried calamari and a fish special, which he said was amazing.

And we wrapped things up with a sampler of chocolate sorbet, pistachio ice cream, and cinnamon ice cream.

Such a fun night. And Kenny’s separation anxiety is getting better–when we came home nothing was destroyed and he wasn’t freaking out!

In other food news, we finally tried West Egg Cafe, which many consider to be the best breakfast in Atlanta.

We started out with cubanos, which were delicious. A lot like espresso but maybe even smoother? So good.

For my breakfast I got garlic roasted grits, a biscuit, vegetarian sausage, and two eggs over medium.

photo 3aI have to agree with all the hype! Everything was perfect. I was very impressed with the meatless sausage. Jason said the biscuit was the best he’s had in his life. We’ll definitely be back!

I’m going to try really hard to get on a human schedule and do normal things like…read a book? Yeah. That sounds good. Have an awesome weekend!
