Easter Weekend 2013

I was lucky enough to have someone cover my work shift yesterday, which meant that I could drive with Jason to New Jersey for his family’s annual Easter extravaganza! In my family, Easter is a pretty small holiday in terms of festivities. But in Jason’s family they do it big! His parents host the party every year and it’s awesome. Friday afternoon we hit the road north.

I let Jason pick where we ate dinner on the way. You won’t believe what he picked.

In his defense, he thought (as I did) that there would be at least one meat-free option for an entrée. There wasn’t. I forgive him. My corn was good.

We made it to Jersey in pretty good time. The next day it was time to party! We got to see so many family members and eat great food all day. It was amazing. I’ve been with Jason since 2006, so to me his family really does feel like my family. I love them all! Most of my actual relatives live thousands of miles away and I rarely see them (which makes me sad!), so I love that being married to Jason means I adopted a family that I get to see a lot more often.

I didn’t have any time to bring food with us, so I decided that my contribution this time would be flowers! The store I work at was full of them so I brought some along.

And my mom made an amazing spread! Everything was delicious as always.

And on the way home today, I got to pick where we ate out.

Way to get back at Jason with that salad 🙂 Back when I wasn’t really eating meat, Joey took me to a burger joint and I ate the worst salad I’ve ever had. I felt so bad complaining about it because it was kind of my fault for going to a place that’s famous for its burgers and getting a salad, and all the manager suggested was other burgers! Looks like a well-catered Easter!

Have you ever been to Burnt Fork BBQ in Decatur? They have BBQ tofu.
