Waffle Iron French Toast

It’s been a very happy birthday so far! The closed buds even opened on my flowers to welcome the new week.

I made this awesome breakfast a few days ago that I’ve been dying to tell you about.

I heard about this idea from my mom. You make french toast in a waffle iron! Same method as you would usually do for french toast, just cooking it in the iron instead of a pan on the stove. I bought some challah bread specifically for trying this recipe.

And I spiced my soaking liquid with a little cinnamon and nutmeg.

This DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It’s like a delicious cross between a waffle and french toast.

One of the problems I always have with french toast at home is that it can be so mushy. It’s hard to achieve that perfect crunch on the outside of the bread. Using this waffle iron method gives you a beautiful, crisp crust ALL OVER. Delicious.

(I’ll do a recipage entry when I get home from my birthday dinner!)

Thanks for reading!

That looks incredible. I don’t generally like French toast because of the sogginess. I don’t like anything that tastes like it’s already been chewed. But this looks like it totally solves that problem! Happy birthday by the way. 🙂

French toast in a waffle iron? I have not thought about it. Anyway, your toast looks really delicious, Lauren!
