WIAW: Halfway There

We’re past the halfway point of our summer in Atlanta! I can’t believe how fast time has gone. My emotions are torn between loving Atlanta/time with my family and also being excited about getting the final year of law school under my belt and being in our Virginia house. Life right now has a lot less pressure than it does during the school year, so I’m trying my best to fully enjoy that. And of course the best way to enjoy life (clearly) is to EAT!

Breakfast: Barbara’s multigrain cereal, milk

I woke up late this morning! No time to slice a banana inside the bowl or make a juice on the side! I’m also out of almond milk/soy milk and so I used  whole milk…but I can’t get used to the taste/gross feeling of it. I’m a 100% non-dairy milk girl now. I used to love cow’s milk as a kid, but these days it does not do it for me at all. Except for the fact that it’s a great protein source! But there are other protein sources. And other milks. Ones that are actually made for people.

Perfectly hilarious. I was sent that video to share with you all on the blog and I am more than happy to oblige. I’m not hating on dairy though–I love me some cheese and whipped cream! It’s a personal decision, like most things.

Lunch: Schlotzsky’s Deli turkey guacamole sandwich on wheat, iced tea to drink (half sweet, half unsweet)

I went out to lunch with co-workers and got distracted chatting so I forgot to snap a picture! Sorry about that. But this picture is better than any I could take with my iPhone:

Helloooo daily sodium intake. How delicious you are.

Juice time: green apples and cucumber

Afternoon Snack: Van’s organic waffle, topped with almond butter and honey

I got these frozen waffles because a lot of other bloggers love them, but I have to be honest with you guys. I think they’re kind of gross. It could just be that I’m not a frozen waffle fan (not a big surprise), but I found them dense and dry and just not that great tasting. I ate the box anyways, but…meh. Wouldn’t buy them again or recommend them.

Workout: mybarre3, weight lifting

I was planning to go to yoga (I just joined a studio here!) but I couldn’t make it in time after coming home from work so I just worked out from home. I did a tiny bit of work with my dumbbells which felt good. I never share my exact workouts because I’m such a novice and it feels weird but I will anyways in case you’re curious:

  • 6 reps of alternating bicep curls with 10 lb. weights (2 sets)
  • 6 reps of hammer curl + shoulder press with 10 lb. weights (2 sets)
  • 6 reps of bent-over rows with 10 lb. weights (2 sets)
Then I grabbed my 2 lb. weights and did a 30 minute mybarre3 workout that REALLY had me feeling the burn. Don’t forget to get your 15 days free here! I’m glad that some of you have tried it and liked it!

I can tell I’m going to be sore in the morning! 🙂

Dinner: Dominican takeout! Pollo guisado, platano maduros, rice and beans, salad

Sorry for the bizzare angles but I was so hungry that I was just trying to snap the pictures quickly. There were fried plantains on my plate too but I couldn’t wait for the picture to eat them. 🙂 They’re my favorite food in the entire world.

Half lemonade, half sparkling water to drink!

Dessert: butter pecan frozen yogurt @ Bruster’s

It was my first time trying thier fro-yo. Delicious!

We had a deal for a free waffle cone so we let little Ashley have at it. The cone was literally bigger than her head. Cutest thing ever.

(Don’t worry…she didn’t eat that whole thing. 😛 )

That’s all, folks! Well…between you and me, if my mom gets home from work before I go to bed then I might have to partake in some of the sandwiches she brings back from her catering trays. I’m not complaining.

Thanks for reading!

That ice cream cone is bigger than Ashley is! Too cute!
