Dim Sum Sunday

After church this morning my family and I all headed to the Golden House for dim sum! Back in the day we used to go to dim sum on the weekends all the time but it’s been years since we had it last. Golden House made it on John Kessler’s “top 50 restaurants in Atlanta” list and so we knew we could trust it to be a good meal. And it was! (I forgot my camera so it’s iPhone pics all the way in this post…)

If you’re not familiar with dim sum, it’s a special kind of Chinese dining style where you eat a series of small dishes to make up your meal, kind of like tapas. Servers come around to your table with carts of various offerings (many of which are dumplings) and you pick what you want a la carte. It’s so fun and the food at this place was really good.

I love eating with my family after church! It’s a time honored tradition that I’m sure will continue when Jason and I start our own family.

My sister Ashley and I couldn’t help noticing a Krispy Kreme shop very nearby, and so we made a secret plan to head there for some hot doughnuts after our meal.

There is NOTHING quite like a hot, fresh Krispy Kreme doughnut.

I won’t tell you how many we ate. The box may or may not be gone.

After letting that food settle down, Jason and I headed to the store to stock up on lunch items for the week. We went to Walmart instead of our usually grocery store (Kroger FTW!) to save a few bucks but MAN it was not worth it. Long lines, dozens of screaming children, people seriously invading my personal space…next time I’ll pay the few extra dollars and go next door. After a great odyssey and standing in the checkout line for an eternity, I walked away with some good stuff for lunch salads this week.

I’m not ready to go back to work tomorrow…but I’m not dreading it either. The fact that I can work from home anytime I want is amazing and I don’t mind the work so there’s really nothing to dread. I’ve been renting a car to take myself to work (I don’t have a car, Jason does and we usually share it) but now that I realize how cool the telecommuting thing is, I think I’m going to return the car in a couple weeks. It will save me a ton of money! And with those savings I really have my eye on one of these…

A JUICER! Definitely in my future.

Thanks for reading!

P.S.- NOTE that this post is up before midnight!!! In fact, it’s only 9:30! Progress.

I hate that Wal-mart with a passion! It’s always so crowded.

I have that same opinion of Wal Mart as well. I usually go really early/really late when I know the crowds are not there. Never during the day unless it is my “big” grocery trip. Since I get a monthly pay check we shop and stock up on staples in one trip only to return to the stores for produce, dairy, etc.

Hey, what a coincidence! We had dim sum too with my family this weekend, in suburban DC. Hope you enjoyed your meal. Next time, skip the rice 😉

Ah! Your pictures of dim sum bring back memories of eating out with my parents. Those shrimp dumplings are my favorite!
