Early December VA Produce

Crazy day over here! I’m working furiously on a paper due tomorrow night and spent all afternoon at an exam review session, and NOW I’m rushing to get ready for a holiday party that one of my professor’s is throwing for students at his home. Because of a change with one of my CSA’s pickup locations, they are giving us free home delivery for the rest of the year! Wonderful for my busy schedule! This lovely bunch of produce was dropped off on our front porch this morning:

Every time we get our box I wonder how in the world we’ll eat everything in it! But somehow we always manage. 😉 Several of these items are CSA “standbys”, but new items from the farms include some beautiful carrots:

collard greens!

onions:

Globe Turnips and Detroit Red Beets:

…and cornbread mix from a local mill!

This is one of my favorite boxes that we’ve gotten!

They also included some local apple cider donuts as a free treat, which we promptly warmed up a bit in the microwave and DEVOURED. Best thing I’ve put in my mouth in weeks…SO incredibly delicious!

Another random item I’m excited about, unrelated to the CSA but just as awesome, is SOY NOG. Ever since Lauren mentioned this stuff I’ve been on the lookout for it, so when I saw it on sale somewhere last night I snatched it up. It. Is. Delicious.

I’m not kidding. SO. SO. DELICIOUS. I will be obsessed for the rest of the season, just warning you.

I’ve gotta run and get dressed for this party! Thanks for reading!
