Healthy Cereals, and Supplements

Good morning!

I have my second exam tomorrow morning, so this will be another fairly brief post. A few days ago I was thinking to myself that as much as I love oatmeal, how come I never eat or hear about other hot cereals? When I was little, my grandma used to make me Cream of Wheat and Wheatena and I loved them! I went to the store to check them out and was thrilled to look at the ingredients list on both. I decided on Wheatena because it was cheaper and the only things it contains: toasted crushed whole wheat, wheat bran, wheat germ, and calcium carbonate. Holy nutrition!

So I made myself a bowl this morning and as soon as I smelled it cooking all those childhood memories came rushing back, and now I KNOW that I will keep this in my pantry for the rest of our lives. And hopefully one day I can serve it to my kids and they will love it as much as I do! It’s super easy to cook, pretty much the same as oatmeal, and I like eating it with just a little butter (buttery spread), brown sugar, and coconut milk creamer.

So delicious. It has this amazing toasted flavor and smell that almost tastes chocolatey, it’s awesome.

One more thing I wanted to share, I got my probiotic supplement in the mail!

I’m so excited! If you aren’t familiar with probiotic supplements, it’s essentially a capsule you eat that puts healthy bacteria organisms back into your digestive system. What with traces of antibiotics in our food and water, and just the way our modern diets are in general, most of us don’t have the amount of healthy bacteria in our guts to keep our digestive systems and immune systems at thier best. I’ve been wanting to take a probiotic supplement for a while, and I discovered this one from Averie over at Love Veggies and Yoga. When I looked it up online, all I found was RAVE reviews of the product so I knew I had to get it.

Let me just share with you some of the claims it makes and then in the coming weeks/months I’ll let you know how its working. “Strains in Jarro-Dophilus EPS promote healthy intestinal microflora, which in turn helps to support intestinal health and immune function….L acidophilus R0052 assists in breaking down lactose (milk sugar), which may improve digestion of dairy products by those individuals who are lactose intolerant…”

Can’t wait to see how it works!

Thanks for reading, I hope all of you are staying safe in this crazy weather.
